This book was written by someone who really loves horses and it shows throughout the read. I look forward to reading more from this author. I like the lesson that the little horse learned. Love it! Would give it 100 stars if I could! Its a great read for beginners, and my daughter hates to read! Its like pulling teeth,but she loves memphis learns the hard way! Its a great story and so few books have realy grabed her attention the way this one did! Worth every star!
This book is well done and has a great moral to the story. These are the types of books our young children should be reading. Very recommended for young children. One of my friends reads this book to her grandson every night, by his choice.

This is a delightful book about a horse named Memphis who learns, as you might guess from the title, an important lesson the hard way. Kids and adults will enjoy the colorful illustrations of Memphis and his horse friends, as well as the subtle, but important moral at the end.
Memphis is a silly little colt who refuses to listen to others when they tell him to be careful. He certainly learns a hard lesson one day while running in the pasture! A clever story and beautiful illustrations make this book enjoyable for very young children to older children. My 12 yr old daughter read it several times before giving it to a younger cousin as a gift. Now they both enjoy it. I also purchased extra copies to donate to my church bookstore.
